The Letters - Naming the Consonantes
EXERCISE: NAMING THE CONSONANTS INSIDE THE SYLLABLES.
The Rules are:
- A vowel attached (associated: under or to left) to a consonant = a syllable.
- Silent letter: A letter without vowel attached.
( Usually the last letter of a word (as in words no. 6,9)
- Silent syllables: The vowel attached is not sounded.
( Read rule no. 3 below ). ( As in words no. 1, 5 ).

IMPORTANT RULES !
- There are two silent letters in the Hebrew alphabet -
(aleph) and
(ayin)
They get the sound of the vowel attached. (words no. 2, 4, 6, 7 ).
- The letter
(hey) is always sounded at the beginning or in the middle of
a word (as in words no. 4, 6, 9 ). But, the
(hey) is usually silent at the end of a word (word no. 2)
- The vowel
is not always sounded.
- It is sounded at the beginning of a word. (word no. 8)
- It is silent at the end or in the middle of a word. (words no. 1, 5)
